Cumulus Media news/talk WMAL (630/105.9) Washington DC will now carry Washington Redskins games, beginning with the 2017-18 NFL season. The games will continue to air on the team’s flagship radio station, Red Zebra Broadcasting “ESPN 980” WTEM, and its FM simulcast partners, WWXT (92.7) and WWXX (94.3). Redskins owner Daniel Snyder also owns Red Zebra Broadcasting.

The Redskins and WMAL are familiar partners as the team was carried by the station as early as 1942 and continued broadcasting games into the early 1990s. Under the new agreement, WMAL will also carry pregame and postgame coverage via the Redskins Radio Network.

“We are very excited to be partnering with WMAL to provide Redskins fans enhanced coverage of our games,” Redskins executive vice president/chief marketing officer Terry Bateman said. “WMAL and the Redskins organization have a long history together spanning six decades of the station carrying Redskins games. We have maintained a strong relationship over the years and now look forward to working together again to provide comprehensive coverage of Redskins football for the Washington market.”

“We are excited and honored to be working with the Redskins again,” WMAL VP/market manager Jake McCann added. “The Redskins and WMAL were partners during the team’s three glorious Super Bowl winning seasons. We look forward to bringing the combined assets of WMAL to this exciting, renewed partnership.”
