DFW’s ‘The Oasis’ Rebrands With More Current Playlist.

Dallas area online and HD smooth jazz station, “The Oasis,” has been rebranded as “OasisDFW.com” with a playlist that now features much more current music and a full air staff. The station can be heard online at OasisDFW.com and on the HD2 channel of CBS Radio CHR “Amp 103.7” KVIL.

The new lineup features local hosts Andy Brooks (6am-9am), Cameron Smith (9am-5pm), Ian Miller (5pm-10pm) and the syndicated “Dave Koz Show” (10pm-12am). The Koz program will also air on Sundays from 2pm-4pm.

“We’re putting a fresh coat of paint on 103.7-HD2 The Oasis,” CBS Dallas programmer Jay Creswell said in an email, according to the Dallas Star-Telegram. In addition to the mostly local lineup, Creswell said “the biggest difference is we’ll be playing roughly 50% new music, as opposed to the 1-2 current songs per hour we’re playing.”

The Oasis’ smooth jazz format was heard on broadcast radio in the Dallas-Fort Worth market from 1987-2006, originally on the 106.1 frequency and finally on 107.5 before flipping to rhythmic AC in October 2006. The 107.5 signal is currently formatted as regional Mexican “La Grande” KMVK.

Smith, who hosted mornings on “The Oasis” from 2001-02, left to focus on his TV program, “Smooth Jazz Television,” telling the Star-Telegram at the time that he felt restrained by the station’s tight playlist.
