Ons het ‘n groote verloor, Jurie Ferreira, maar sy musiek bly tog treffend

Jurie Ferreira (1921 – 2002) was ’n Afrikaanse sanger. Van sy bekendste treffers is: Die swaeltjie, Die blonde matroos, Tahiti, Boereseun en Erika.

Hy het ook sy verskyning in rolprente soos Kom saam, vanaand, Hier’s ons weer, Alles sal regkom en Altyd in my drome gemaak.

Ferreira is 1921 in Ventersdorp in die Noordwes gebore. In 1936 bring sy pa hom as 15-jarige na Johannesburg vir ’n sangopname. Sy eerste kommersiële plaat, Tier, word 1939 opgeneem. In 1941 sluit hy by die orkes van Arnout Malherbe aan.

After obtaining a degree in Drama at the Tshwane University of Technology, Sean started a career as an actor, appearing in numerous award-winning stage-productions, films and television series.

In 2005 he started his own record label, Mozi Records, where he produced the multi-platinum-selling artists, Bok van Blerk and Lianie May. These artists’ sensational achievements include the South African Music Award for Top Selling Artist in 2009 to Lianie May and the same award in 2010, to Bok van Blerk. As songwriter, Sean partnered on numerous hit songs, including: “De La Rey”, “Ons Vir Jou Suid-Afrika”, “Tyd Om Te Trek” and “Die Kaplyn”. Music videos for these songs have also won Sean numerous “Music Video of the Year” awards.

Vyf van Suid-Afrika se grootste name in die Afrikaanse musiekbedryf het saamgewerk aan ’n splinternuwe liedjie, Die Land, wat Suid-Afrikaners se harte trots gaan laat klop oor dié land – maar ook gaan los met ’n paar intense vrae.

Steve Hofmeyr, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Jay du Plessis, Bok van Blerk, en Ruhan du Toit van die bekroonde duo Touch of Class, se enkelsnit, Die Land, is pas vrygestel en gaan selfondersoek by elke Suid-Afrikaner bring oor wat ons vir ons nageslag gaan nalaat.

Ondanks die onsekerheid wat talle Suid-Afrikaners ervaar is dit bykans of hierdie lied inwoners wil smeek om in die land te bly en daarin te belê – soos God se doel was met elke persoon wat Suid-Afrika sy tuiste noem. Met diep lirieke vanuit die pen van die bekroonde liedjieskrywer Johan Oberholzer, bring die lied ’n gevoel van trots oor dit wat aan ons toevertrou is.

Samantha Leonard stel haar eerste Afrikaanse snit bekendgestel

“’n Duisend Keuses is ’n baie persoonlike liedjie, wat my herinner waarom ek verlief geraak het op sing en hoe dit my inspireer en laat voel; en dat ek nie musiek gekies het nie, maar dat dit my gekies het.

Dis wie ek is, dis in my bloed, en dis die enigste ding wat my motiveer om nooit op te gee wanneer dit by my drome kom nie. Dit is vir my ’n voorreg om my storie, deur middel van musiek, met die wêreld te deel,” verklap Samantha Leonard oor haar eerste enkelsnit wat pas vrygestel is.

Dié Afrikaanse popsnit, uit die sangeres se eie pen en hart en vervaardig deur Hugo Ludik en Vaughan Gardener van Muse Studio’s, vertel die storie van haar loopbaanreis sover en van die keuses wat sy moes maak om tot op hierdie punt te kom. Sorina Erasmus is a multi-talented actress, singer & writer who is known for her brilliant performance as Witbank Flooze (who had a date with Ryk Neethling) in the SABC2 soap 7de Laan.

After completing her LLB degree and doing her masters in law, she studied drama at Technicon Pretoria (TUT). With regards to other television productions she will be seen in June 2009 in the role of the mysterious Natasha on the MNET soap Egoli.

Other television credits include: Dryfsand, Hart van Staal en Begeertes. Sorina also has a list of theatre productions behind her name such as: Haar Hare (directed by Sandra Prinsloo), Leuenverklikker (directed by Tobie Cronje), Assie Kluite Klop (a cabaret written by Sorina herself and directed by Sandra Prinlsoo) and Ons wil Lewe (directed by Sorina herself) – all being performed at festivals such as KKNK, Aardklop & Innibos.
