Wes-Kaapse premier Alan Winde het die oproerwet aan die provinsie se taxibase voorgelees, terwyl ‘n dodelike doodloopstraat voortduur waar meer as 70 mense sedert die begin van die jaar in die geweld dood is. “Ons busbestuurders word geterroriseer, ons burgers word geterroriseer… daarom moet ons die volle mag van die wet hê.“

Thembisile Patekile, provinsiale polisiekommissaris van Winde, het Dinsdag met die media gesels oor die voortslepende taxi-oorlog en gesê “Ons het te doen met ‘n baie ernstige saak wat sy kop in ons provinsie uitsteek, en dit is taxigeweld. Dit is kriminele en boewe in die taxibedryf wat baie van ons burgers onder losprys hou,” het hy gesê.

ABOVE THE LAW? #PoliceBrutality A man who had seen and confronted EMPD officers who drove the wrong way up a one way street, was targeted, abused and intimidated by a dozen Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) officers, with some very heavy handed treatment, even though he committed no crime!

Why were so many officers required and was it necessary to draw and point a weapon at an unarmed civilian on the ground, being held down by a handful of other officers, for a traffic violation which THEY, the EMPD committed?

Is “patronage” the new word for buying votes? What are the criteria to qualify for Food Aid? According to Gauteng Premier David Makhura, patronage and corruption won’t be tolerated in the distribution of food parcels to the needy, but it seems the horse has already bolted. #TheAfricanWay Sub-Station in Springs Burns Down Because Ekhurhuleni (East Rand) Municipality Failed To Do Repairs After Break-in Last Year, Despite Being Warned It Could Catch Fire, Leaving Thousands Without Power!

#BetterUnderApartheid An important electrical sub-station in Springs, which was damaged during a break-in by vandals last year, was left in the dilapidated state, creating a fire risk, has finally burnt down on Sunday, leaving thousands of residents and manufacturing businesses in the industrial area New Era, without electricity. It could take up to 2 weeks to repair the damage.

The businesses in the industrial area like Kellogg’s, will obviously lose millions of Rands in lost manufacturing. The substation was never properly fixed after the last break-in and an electrician warned the Ekurhuleni Metro Municipality in a damage report, which was compiled after the last break-in, that the substation is a ticking time bomb, and was for instance, not properly earthed.

Racist Tshwane Metro police officers are once again targeting white people in Pretoria, but did they mess with the wrong “victims” this time? In another incident which has come to light, black Tshwane Metro Police officers haphazardly and without valid reason pulled off whites in the Pretoria area, then illegally arrested them, assaulted them, swore at them and acted with a clear racial motive.

On Tuesday night Tshwane Metro Police struck again, apparently just because it was white people traveling in the car, because they certainly did nothing else wrong. In the car, a Pajero, was Prof. Andre Thomashausen, a retired law professor from Unisa, his wife and two German friends.

Only the ruins of a once proud Bloemfontein, once called Die Rosestad, have remained, and the metro administration is now in a position where it simply can’t manage itself anymore. It is the first metro in the country that has totally collapsed. So says Professor Andre Duvenhage, currently a political analyst at the North West University, who stayed 17 years in Bloemfontein.

Duvenhage says he is shocked over the decay of the once proud institution, once reckoned among the best in the country. Duvenhage says the whole local government system in the Free State has collapsed and what can be seen in Bloemfontein, can be seen anywhere in the Free State.
