Bobby Bones, Mike McVay Among Innovation Of Music Winners.

The inaugural class of 2017 Innovation of Music Award winners has been announced and it includes some well-known radio executives, programmers and talent. The class will be recognized during a ceremony on Tues., June 6 at the Westin Hotel in Nashville, Tenn. Winners of the previously announced country music station awards nominees will also be named at the ceremony.

Also, the Innovator of the Year award—the recipient of which will be announced in the coming days—will be handed out as well.

Cumulus Media executive VP, Content & Programming, Mike McVay, will receive the Heritage Award at the Nashville ceremony. McVay is being recognized for his work within his McVay Media/McVay Syndication/Listener Driven Radio entities.

Syndicated country radio morning personality Bobby Bones will receive the award under the National Radio category. SiriusXM Radio senior director of Country Programming J.R. Schulman will be honored in the Digital Broadcast category and former radio programmer—now senior VP/Music Strategy at CMT—Leslie Fram gets the nod in the National Media category.

The Innovation in Music Awards were created to “celebrate those who have played a critical role in the development and advancement of the ever-changing music industry,” and will “recognize a number of industry leaders who are distinguished in the discovery and innovative strategy of driving forward the direction of today’s music landscape.”

Medium Market Radio: Bev Rainey, iHeartMedia KBQI Albuquerque; Jon Reilly, Pamal Broadcasting WKLI Albany; John Thomas, iHeartMedia WRNX Springfield; Sue Wilson, Rubber City Radio Group WQMX Akron.

Small Market Radio: Scott Donato, Forever Media WGTY York; Kory James, Marker Broadcasting KPLM Palm Springs; Rik McNeil, Momentum Broadcasting KJUG Visalia; Dave Michaels, Federated Media WQHK Ft. Wayne.
